MRI Tech Location: Charlotte, NC Agency: TalentBurst Inc. Pay: $2,341 to $2,360 per week Shift Information: 3 days x 12 hours Start Date: 3/30/2026 About the Position Job Summary The MRI Technologist I perform procedures in accordance with departmental protocols and standards. Operates MRI Scanners and associated equipment with a high level of proficiency. This equipment includes scanner, post processing stations/programs, IV contrast injectors, O2 and suction equipment, patient transport and patient monitoring equipment. Essential Functions • Examines requests and verifies orders on each assigned patient. Refers and questions orders to the Radiologist before performing exam. Contacts ordering provider when there are discrepancies. • Properly identify (Using two patient identifiers) and assist patients while offering a brief explanation of the procedures. Prepares patients for the procedure with a full explanation and documents on appropriate worksheets. • Interviews patients for a complete medical history. Reviews in-patients, ER, and outpatients EMR's to obtain pertinent clinical history. Records medical history on requisitions. Correlates other test results and laboratory data with exam being performed. • Assumes responsibility for the exam from beginning of exam until completion of dictated results. • Prepares and administers IV contrast according to departmental protocols. On request, records contrast type and amount. • Evaluates technical quality of images and consults with a Radiologist if needed. Recognizes abnormal anatomy and processes any additional, reconstructed images, and/or measurements as instructed. • Performs basic patient care functions. Informs appropriate nursing personnel of any changes in the patient's condition. Initiates life support measures for patients when necessary. Assists in "code blue” procedures during medical emergencies. • Performs MRI scanning and assists Physicians/PA during invasive procedures. Practices proper sterile technique in the preparation of necessary supplies. Performs all invasive procedures in accordance with bloodborne pathogens, isolation, and infection control policies and procedures. • Is authorized to obtain medication or contrast material as directed for administration by a licensed practitioner. • Practices principle of radiation safety for self, employees, patients and family members. Follows appropriate radiation safety standards • Reports malfunctioning equipment to the department director/manager/supervisor and clinical engineering/radiology engineer. • Maintains knowledge and skills required to work safely in an environment that can create significant exposure to bloodborne pathogens and infectious disease. • Adheres to the hospital fire and safety procedures. Attends all in-service classes and completes all required safety modules. • Operates radiology computer system to include entering orders and charging procedures/supplies. Documents contrast administration in the MAR. • Maintains assigned work area in a neat and orderly fashion. Keeps area completely stocked. Cleans all work areas to promote cleanliness in the workplace. • Assists other medical personnel, such as anesthesia, when performing exams or services in conjunction with a MRI scan. • Maintains knowledge of all MRI safety requirements for both staff and patients while in and around magnetic fields Physical Requirements Requires moderate to heavy physical efforts in lifting and moving patients, equipment and supplies. Occasional standing, walking, and sitting during normal operation. Frequently may be required to stretch, bend twist, squat or kneel in the daily operation of the MRI department. May be exposed to various physical conditions throughout the day such as walking on hard surfaces, climbing stairs, being near moving equipment. Required to use radiation safety guidelines to prevent exposure to ionizing radiation. Education, Experience and Certifications Graduate of an accredited two-year AMA approved program in Radiologic or Nuclear Medicine Technology or active enrollment in a ARMRIT or ARRT registry eligible program required. ARRT certification in Radiologic Technology, ARRT or NMTCB for Nuclear Medicine with advanced registry from the ARMRIT or ARRT in MRI required within one year of hire. CPR certification required. Demonstrates the skills and competency appropriate to the ages, culture, developmental stages, and special needs of the patient population served. Protected Health Information • Will limit access to protected health information (PHI) to the information reasonably necessary to do the job. • Will share information only on a need to know basis for work purposes. • Access to verbal, written and electronic PHI for this job has been determined based on job level and job responsibility within the organization. Computerized access to PHI for this job has been determined as described above and is controlled via user ID and password. Machines, Tools and Equipment MRI Scanners, automatic injectors, O2 and suction equipment, radiology imaging systems, PACS equipment, protective lead shielding, patient EMR record, patient equipment, all types of transportation equipment, lifting equipment, printers, faxes, and telephones. Frequency depends on the size of the team based on fair rotation to share the responsibility equally. Weekend Rotation No rotations between weekends and weekdays. Travelers would stay on days and shifts per the contract. Holiday Requirements Travelers will be expected to help holiday coverage unless approved off in advance. o RTO: Manager approval Floating Requirements No JOB DESCRIPTION MRI Technologist ? About Facility: o How many licensed beds? CMC 874, LCH 247 o Level I Trauma; Level 1 Pediatric Trauma o Teaching Hospital o Chest Pain Center o Stroke Center ? Department Information: o Average patients/day? 40-45 o Minimum Years of Experience required? 1 year o Will you accept a first-time traveler? Yes ? Patient Types/Common Diagnoses: o Adults and Pediatrics from ED, ICUs, Nursing units and outpatients across the full spectrum of radiology exams and diagnosis' ? Required License, National Certification, Certs (BLS, ACLS, etc.), or other position specific requirements such as Driver's License and/or Insurance: o ARRT(R) or NMTCB, ARRT(MR) or ARMRIT o BLS o State Licensure is not required ? Skills required: o Confident of their clinical skill sets with ability to work in a fast paced, high patient acuity environment. Good communication skills and attitude of helpfulness and teamwork strongly preferred ? Support within the Department: o All departments have a lead tech, modality supervisor, and Imaging Manager. Diverse team with various years of experience from new grads to long tenure teammates. ? Technology/Equipment: o EMR: EPIC o Department specific Equipment: Siemens 1.5T magnets ? Floating: If yes, where? o No ? Orientation (facility and unit) : o Facility tour, departmental tour with introductions. o 5 days departmental orientation but flexible based on needs of traveler ? Scheduling: o Rotations: No rotations between weekends and weekdays. Travelers would stay on days and shifts per the contract. o Call requirement: Call varies and is staffed with a fair rotation between full time, part time, PRN and Traveler teammates. Frequency depends on the size of the team based on fair rotation to share the responsibility equally. o Holiday Expectations: Travelers will be expected to help holiday coverage unless approved off in advance. o RTO: Manager approval o Schedule cycle: Traveler contract are 13 weeks and travelers would work the same shift and times as agreed upon in the contract. ?
