Purpose of the position The CommunitySchoolsCoordinator will
helpEOimplement the community school model in PK-12 education
settingsin Washington County, Dickenson County, and the City of
Norton.This positionis responsible forproviding school & district
consultationtoensure successful program implementation of the
community schools model at participating schools. The position
works withthe Community School Advisory Teams (CSATs) at 21 schools
toimprove collaborative leadership, family and community
engagement, student engagement and motivation, and student mental
health and basic needsto create conditions for students to success
academically and socially. Essential functions Serves as primary
liaison for allEOcommunityschoolsactivities Organize and build
engagement with potential community stakeholders including
students, staff, families, community partners, organizations,
programs, and businesses to involve them in
communityschoolsdevelopment Develop, expand, and support family and
community engagement for assigned school districts Work withCSATsto
ensure that policies and proceduresfor addressingbarriersto student
learning and strengthening family-school-community partnerships
Facilitate ongoing technicalassistancefor assigned school sites via
virtual or written communication Participate in required evaluation
activities associated with the project Build the capacity of school
sites to use data to inform decision making Assistin developing and
implementing project work plans Communicate and collaborate in
multiple ways with otherEOteam members,community partners, and
funders Competencies Excellent verbal and written communication
skills Ability to listen carefully and interpret what is being said

relationship based and/or trauma-informed practices Work
environment This position is based in the Abingdon, Virginia
office. Physical demands While performing the duties of this job,
the employeeis regularly required tosit and talk or hear. The
employeefrequentlyis required touse hands to finger, handle, or
feel. The employeeis occasionally required tostand and walk. The
employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close
vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and
ability to adjust focus. Position type and expected hours of work
Employeeshould be able to work core hoursof8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with
occasional meetings, events, andpossible emergenciesoutside of core
hours. Travel required The ideal candidate will be available to
attend early morning, evening, and/or weekend meetingsin personand
should be able to travel independently where needed. Certificates,
