- We are adding a RCI Engineer to our HBF team in Hickory,
NC!What you'll do:
This position is responsible for performing a variety of
engineering assignments in developing and implementing production/
processing methods and controls to meet quality standards in the
most cost efficient manner. Drive breakthrough process and product
targets using lean tools and BPI processes to identify
opportunities and drive improvement. Responsible for advancing the
lean culture and ensuring the RCI process is highly productive.
Leads or facilitates project teams for implementation of multi
plant projects working closely with plant management, engineers,
and suppliers.
- Responsible for lean implementation, providing lean expertise,
guidance, and motivation and leadership on kaizen events and lean
assessment
- Coordinate the introduction of new product into the
manufacturing process
- Analyzes data to determine feasibility of product
proposal.
- Plans, conducts, and/or directs research and/or development
work on complex projects require the origination and application of
new and unique approaches.
- Recommends and implements improvements and/or modifications in
sequence of operations, equipment utilization, and related
matters.
- Confers with research and other engineers to clarify and
resolve problems; prepares design modifications, as appropriate.
Recommends changes in procedures, design or equipment.
- Interfaces with Manufacturing to resolve issues.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Process drawings for approved requests.
- Assemble job files- custom and engineered to order
products
- Works safely always; reports unsafe conditions to
Supervisor.What you have:
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in
Manufacturing Engineering. Industrial Design or related field.
- Lean manufacturing principles, including RCI, 3P, Value Stream
Mapping, Problem solving and statistical analysis.
- Minimum 2 years manufacturing engineering experience in
contract furniture or related field
- Demonstrate success in implementing continuous process
improvement programs
- Experience managing projects to successful completion.
- Required: AutoCAD 2004, Excel, Word
- Recommended: Access or Crystal Reports, PowerPoint, Project,
Visio, 3D Solid Modeling Software, IMOS.What you're good at:
- Problem Solving. This competency is fundamental to RCI and will
be critical in this role. Total fluency in the use of fishbone,
5-why, A3, and other lean tools is non-negotiable.
- Influence. In an RCI role, influence is vital as you are
generally an "outsider" who must earn the trust and respect of
Factory management by providing clear value and demonstrating true
expertise.
- Change Agility. RCI engineers need to not only be able to
change quickly, they often must be catalysts for change. you must
lead by example and be willing to consistently push and constantly
react to changing needs, situations, and priorities.
- Communication Skills. Ability to effectively present
information, both orally and written, and respond to questions from
groups of managers, clients and customers.
- Mathematical Skills. Ability to calculate proportions and
percentages.
- Reasoning Ability. Ability to define problems, collect data,
establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an
extensive variety of technical instructions and deal with several
