FOR WHOM ARE WE LOOKING: The Sustainability Manager will be responsible for guiding and supporting various functions within Environmental Safety and Product Compliance division of Shurtape. They be responsible for a variety of projects that shape the organization's objectives around climate impact reduction and customer compliance reporting.The Sustainability Manager is a "high visibility" position with exposure to key Shurtape leadership, the Board of Directors, and direct engagement with Shurtape's most valued global customers in the retail and consumer goods.We are seeking a humble, hardworking, motivated individual who aspires to establish and grow a career with Shurtape. SUMMARY OF POSITIONThe Sustainability Manager provides strategic and tactical leadership support in three main areas: Sustainability, Product Stewardship and Ethical Sourcing through engagement of internal and external stakeholders ranging from organizational/departmental leadership, facility employees, customers, and supply chain.This position systematically compiles data, establishes KPIs, establishes and develops internal/external stakeholder reporting, develops internally focused communications/training, implements/owns EMIS, coordinates/aligns programmatic integration across the enterprise, facilitates Sustainability Steering Committee, identifies risks, and implements practices for assurance of regulatory compliance.Strategically leads the development & communication of anticipated Regulatory/Best Practice standards, resource requirements, and recommended enterprise responses.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESSustainability: Be on the "cutting edge" of global sustainability trends/certifications to recognize risks and opportunities yielding a strategic visionProduct Compliance: Shape the narrative! Partner & collaborate with our R&D and Sourcing teams to identify & qualify raw materials resulting in finished products compliant with global product regulatory standards.Ethical Sourcing: Ensure human rights by identifying, evaluating, and prioritizing risks and opportunities associated with Global Ethical Sourcing requirements including end-to-end supplier due diligence process and impact of site, supplier, transportation changes

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Environmental Science, Sustainability, or related field. Master's Degree Preferred
  • Professional Certification in Product Stewardship, Sustainability, Environmental or Ethical Sourcing preferredSkills
    • Strong Computer skills in MS Word & Excel; ability to create advanced spreadsheets
    • Database development and use of BI tools preferred
    • Familiarity with Ethical Trading Platforms
    • Strong organization & project management skillsAbilities
      • Working knowledge of ERP systems required, SAP is preferred
      • Proven strength in Leadership, Management and Relationship/Team building skillsExperience
        • 7 or more years' experience or related experience in the fields of Sustainability, Environmental Health & Safety, Product Stewardship, or related Scientific field is required.
        • Preferred experience in consumer products industry
        • Working Knowledge of Environmental Management Information Systems (EMIS)
        • Consumer Product and International Regulatory experience preferred
