Initially, the focus will include turnaround efforts of the division including financial analysis regarding (1) site consolidation, (2) stranded cost, (3) restructuring and exist costs, (4) sku rationalization, (5) market and product pricing, (6) working capital improvement and (7) overall profit improvement strategies. The successful candidate will become a growth-oriented strategic partner who will drive the expansion of the business in concert with the Division President or General Manager. The VP Division Finance will leverage other resources in the company such as plant controllership and purchasing, and will ultimately have primary day-to-day responsibility for planning, implementing, managing and controlling all financial-related activities of the division. This will include but is not limited to direct responsibility for forecasting, budgeting, acquisition/merger/disposition activity and growth strategies. The VP Division Finance will become a true business partner of the divisional leadership team and demonstrate the ability to lead the transformation and growth of the division. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Full responsibility to direct and oversee all aspects of the FP&A functions within the division. Takes the lead role in analyzing strategies and options to affect the turnaround of the division Acts as a strong business partner to the Divisional President/GM, challenging and debating business ideas and tactics to deliver the business performance targets established. Analyzes pricing and go-to-market strategies across the division; makes recommendations to division president/gm regarding proposed changes; drives implementation of new pricing strategies Understands the relationship between key raw material input costs and the need to quickly recoup any increases from vendors; develops methodology to preserve margins in periods of rising costs Leverages plant controllers, purchasing, etc. in the analysis and execution of business issues facing the division Leads and drives financial forecasting and planning process to ensure robust management of business and divisional performance, inclusive of the division’s S&OP process Accountable for the delivery of performance in line with stated divisional financial targets and metrics with a significant portion of variable compensation opportunity tied directly to the performance of the division Provides leadership in the continuous evaluation of short and long-term strategic objectives of the division. Confers and actively consults with the Division President/GM to coordinate and prioritize strategic planning – including leading all acquisition/merger/disposition activity of the division Reviews reports to analyze projections of sales and profit against actual figures, budgeted expenses against actual expenses, and suggests methods of improving the planning process as appropriate. Analyzes operations to pinpoint opportunities and areas that need to be restructured and or right-sized – including delivery of insight and analyses of both financial and non-financial data (KPIs/KPDs). Studies long-range economic trends and projects in overall sales and market share and develops opportunities for acquisitions or expansion into new product areas. Estimates requirements for capital and performs the necessary ROI analysis on proposed capital Manages the working capital of the division and implements necessary modifications in order to maximize working capital levels Professional Experience / Education Requirements: Four year degree in business administration, accounting, or finance; MBA preferred A minimum of 10 years in progressively more responsible financial roles, particularly at the financial leadership level in a manufacturing company Experience with a family-owned manufacturing business is preferred but not required Background in best-in-class financial organizations emphasizing metrics-driven performance, strong pricing and cost disciplines and a focus on cash and working capital management Operationally focused with a strong understanding of plant economics and the ability to get behind the numbers to drive operational focus and improvement Prior financial management in leading $100M+ company/division Excellent analytical, organizational, verbal and written communication skills Desire and ability to apply experience, critical thinking, problem-solving and the highest standards of personal and financial integrity in a fast-paced environment High sense of urgency Growth-oriented with a proven track record of driving profitability while maintaining top line momentum Ability to extract data, identify root causes and provide the necessary insight from the data to drive action Qualifications Education Preferred Bachelors or better in Business Administration. Masters or better. Experience Preferred A minimum of 10 years in progressively more responsible financial roles, particularly at the financial leadership level in a manufacturing company
