Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Infusion
Nurse to join our rheumatology practice. This specialized role is
responsible for administering intravenous (IV) infusions and
injections to patients with rheumatologic conditions. The ideal
candidate will have strong IV skills, a solid understanding of
rheumatologic medications, and a commitment to patient safety and
comfort. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Clinical Care &
Infusion Administration: Prepare and administer a variety of
medications via infusion and injection (e.g., biologics,
corticosteroids, and other immunomodulatory drugs) according to
established protocols. Assess and monitor patients throughout the
infusion process, promptly identifying and managing any adverse
reactions or side effects. Perform lab draws on patients as needed
and process samples for transport to the lab. Provide comprehensive
patient education on their treatment plan, medication side effects,
and what to expect during their infusion. Serve as a primary point
of contact for patients, addressing their questions and concerns
with empathy and professionalism. Administrative Support: Maintain
accurate and detailed documentation of the infusion process,
including patient vitals, medication administered, and any
reactions. Schedule patient appointments, including infusion visits
and follow-up appointments, as needed. Clinic Operations: Prepare
the infusion suite for each patient, ensuring all necessary
supplies and equipment are readily available. Adhere to all clinic
policies and procedures, including those related to infection
control, safety, and medication handling. Assist with the general
upkeep of the infusion suite and clinic area to maintain a clean
and sterile environment. Assist with inventory management for
infusion medications and supplies. Perform other miscellaneous
tasks as needed to support the practice's operations. ADA Physical
Requirements Data Entry and Manipulation: Constantly operating a
computer, phone system, and other office productivity machinery
(e.g., printer, copier) which requires the use of hands/fingers to
handle, feel, operate, and input data (typing, writing, etc.). Fine
Motor/Dexterity: Using one-handed syringes, IV poles, or adapted
computer input devices. Visual Acuity: The ability to observe and
read computer screens, forms, charts, and small print for accurate
information and assessment. Lifting/Carrying: Minimal requirements,
typically sedentary to light (moving or transporting items up to
10-20 pounds), such as files, supplies, or a laptop. Required
Qualifications Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN)
license in South Carolina. Minimum of 2-3 years of nursing
experience; experience in infusion therapy, rheumatology, or a
related specialty is highly preferred. Proven competency in IV
insertion, phlebotomy, and maintenance. Strong knowledge of
infusion medications, including potential side effects and
emergency protocols. Excellent communication and interpersonal
skills with a patient-centered approach. Ability to work
independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced clinical
environment. Knowledge of Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems. A
