PCU RN experience License: Valid RN License Certifications: BLS,
ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Experience with traches, cardiac gtt
experience, cardiac rhythm interpretation, chest tubes, blood
products, wound care/dressing changes, management of central lines
Description: 201 licensed beds. Level 3 Trauma designation.
Certified Chest Pain Center. Stroke Center status. Unit has 32
beds. Patient types include those not requiring mechanical
ventilation. Common diagnoses include CHF, Dysrhythmia, Chest Pain
workup, Stroke, Abdominal illnesses, Respiratory illness, Diabetes,
AKI/CKD, ETOH withdrawal, IVDA, etc. Typical patient ratios are RN:
1:4, with potential for 1:5 depending on acuity. Support within the
department includes CNA for ADLs and a Charge Nurse available to
assist with all nursing care. Phlebotomy services are available,
aside from nurse draws. RT is available 24/7. Hospitalists and
Intensivists are also present around the clock. Telemetry
monitoring occurs both bedside and at the nurses' station.
Technology utilized includes EMR: EPIC, IV Pump: Alaris, Medication
Dispensing: Omnicell, and Monitors: Phillips. Floating is required
within the region and scope of practice. Schedule includes weekend
rotation every other week. Travelers are expected to work 75% of
holidays. Requests for time off can be approved up to 6 days,
excluding holidays. If unable to meet contracted hours, time off
must be added to the end of the contract. Schedule cycles are every
6 weeks. Unit culture is family-oriented. Scrub color is Navy.
