Key Responsibilities: Perform comprehensive patient assessments, develop and implement individualized care plans, and evaluate treatment outcomes. Administer medications safely and manage oxygen therapy, IVs, wound care, and advanced cardiac monitoring. Interpret advanced cardiac rhythms and manage cardiac drips in critical care scenarios. Collaborate with healthcare team members, coordinate care and patient teaching, and advocate for patients physical and psychosocial needs. Monitor patients with complex conditions including chronic kidney disease, diabetes, congestive heart failure, respiratory failure, and sepsis. Respond promptly to changes in patient condition using clinical judgment to prioritize urgent needs. Float to other medical/surgical and telemetry units to provide comprehensive nursing support. Qualifications and Experience: Active RN license in the state of practice or covered by compact licensure. Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; CCRN or PCCN certification preferred. Minimum of 2 years recent acute care nursing experience, with at least some in critical care or stepdown units. Experience in electronic documentation and familiarity with electronic health records like EPIC is preferred. Strong critical thinking, time management, and communication skills. Must successfully complete a dysrhythmia exam prior to assignment. Schedule & Location: 12-hour day shifts, with expected work every other weekend and holiday. Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility location in Chester, VA. Contract position suited for travel nurses interested in stepdown care.
