FeaturedLab Technical Specialist- Chemistry *SIGN ON BONUS* (FT) Days - Johnson City, TNJob ID: 0049GEJOHNSON CITY MEDICAL CENTERLaboratory - Clinical LaboratoryFull-time (scheduled 72 hrs or more per pay period) - DayJob DescriptionSCOPE OF POSITIONThe Laboratory Technical Specialist is responsible for assisting the Clinical Laboratory's Section(s) manager to assure efficient utilization of personnel productive workflow in the assigned clinical area. The Specialist will serve as a positive role model both interdepartmentally and interdepartmentally and is cooperative with our external customers/clients. The Specialist is a liaison between staff and management to communicate schedule needs and potential problems that may have far-reaching implications. The Specialist will perform procedures involving indirect patient contact with all groups based upon experience and training, additional procedures may include therapeutic phlebotomy procedures on adult and geriatric patients as well as phlebotomy procedures on neonate, child, adolescent, adult and/or geriatric patients.The Specialist will assume a leadership role in the proper operations and preventative operations of all mechanical, electronic, and computer equipment within the section. This individual will advise and recommend new methodology reagents and/or instruments, and aid in the development of new policy and procedures as well as assuring that all staff is properly trained and can demonstrate competency. The Specialist may provide support for computer updates and validation within the assigned section. The Specialist is encouraged to initiate and serve on Process Improvement Teams and committees. The Specialist may be requested to take On-Call. INDLTREPORTING RELATIONSHIPSee Table of Organization.EDUCATION EXPERIENCEBachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biology or biological science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution, orSuccessful completion of an official military medical laboratory procedures course and have held the military enlisted occupational specialty of Medical Laboratory Specialist (Laboratory Technician); orMeet CLIA Standard; Testing personnel qualification 42CFR493.1423 for moderate complexity testing and 42CFR493.1489 for high complexity testing. A State of Tennessee License is not required.Johnson City Medical Center Technologists performing Clinical Trial testing must meet the State of New York Department of Health Part 58-1 of 10 NYCRR Clinical Laboratories Standards 58-1.5, duties and qualification of clinical laboratory technical personnel.Certification by the ASCP, AMT, AABB, or other organization deemed comparable is not required but preferred.High School Diploma or equivalent.Certification by the ASCP, AMT, AABB or other organization deemed comparable; or MT (HEW) certification through a Health Education and Welfare Academic and Sciences Program.This position if working in Tennessee is required to possess State of Tennessee Medical Laboratory Supervisor license.Johnson City Medical Center Technicians performing Clinical Trial testing must meet the State of New York Department of Health Part 58-1 of 10 NYCRR Clinical Laboratories Standards 58-1.5, duties and qualification of clinical laboratory technical personnel.RequirementsNo additional requirements from any stated in the above description.by Jobble
