Job Description:

Hickory Village Memory Care, a DePaul Senior Living Community, is looking for caring and dedicated staff to join our team!

Our community is currently hiring for the following positions:

* Personal Care Assistant

* Housekeeper

Personal Care Assistant

Position Summary:

Under the general direction of the Supervisor-In-Charge, provides direct personal care and assistance to residents as needed.

Qualifications:

1) Must be able to document CNA certification or completion of PCA 80-hour training. (PCA has 6 months to obtain either PCA or CNA certification).

2) Must have the required references and criminal record check.

3) Must have the required two-step Tuberculosis (TB) testing in accordance with NC Adult care Home Rules.

4) Must be at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities:

1) Provide personal care for each resident assigned by the Supervisor-In-Charge (SIC) or Resident Care Coordinator (RCC).

2) Observe resident for any change in condition and report to the SIC and/or RCC.

3) Assist with maintaining a safe environment

4) Assist with meal service and provide eating assistance as necessary.

5) Assist with all activities of daily living as needed (shaving, bathing, fingernail care, dressing, toileting, grooming, hair care, oral hygiene, etc.).

6) Daily bed making and scheduled bed linen changes.

7) Helps to maintain each residents independence, self respect, personal dignity and personal safety.

8) Assists the Activities Director with planned activities and encourages residents to participate.

9) Performs other related duties as assigned.

SPECIAL DEMANDS:

Warmth, understanding and responsiveness to residents and their demands and reactions.

Positive feeling for families and visitors, exercising patience and tact.

Ability to use initiative, judgment and resourcefulness and ability to make decisions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Ability to communicate with residents and others in the English language.

2. Ability to read and write English.

3. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. without mechanical assistance. Ability to bodily support with minimal assistance (i.e., partial weight bearing, etc.) up to 100 lbs.

4. Ability to visually observe residents.

5. Ability to audibly hear call bells, emergency systems, verbal needs expressed by residents, and sounds relate to physical assessment (B/P, apical heart rate).

6. Ability to turn, stoop, bend, and stretch in order to assist residents.

7. Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods.

8. Ability to manipulate equipment (sphygmomanometer, Accucheck, thermometer, etc.).

9. Ability to recognize and respond to emergencies, e.g., evacuation of residents and visitors in the event of fire.

10. Ability to push medication cart down hallway without assistance.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Well lighted, air-conditioned/heated environment; may be exposed to residents with communicable diseases or confused residents who become combative. May be required to work outside on occasion when required by resident care needs (i.e., resident walks or other outdoor activities).

PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT REQUIRED AND/OR USED:

Latex gloves, goggles, for standard precautions. Office equipment (copier, computer, fax machine, telephone), fire extinguisher, wheel chairs.

Housekeeper

POSITION SUMMARY: The purpose of this position is to maintain a clean and safe environment in accordance with state regulations and facility policy.

QUALIFICATION:

1) Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age: high school diploma or GED preferred.

2) Previous experience in institutional housekeeping preferred.

3) Must have the required references and criminal record check.

4) Must be in good standing with the Health Care Personnel Registry.

5) Must have documentation that he/she is free from tuberculosis disease that poses a direct threat to the health and safety of others.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1) Follows the cleaning schedule (daily, weekly, monthly) of resident rooms, common areas and offices.

2) Straightens or rearranges furniture when needed or requested.

3) Inspects furniture for wear and defects; completes maintenance requests for needed repairs.

4) Empties and relines waste baskets.

5) Keeps designated smoking area cigarette receptacles clean.

6) Replenishes soap dispensers and bathroom tissue.

7) Cleans room after resident is discharged.

8) Checks rooms of resident who are moving in to insure that the room is ready.

9) Honors resident's rights especially, related to privacy and confidentiality.

10) Reports unsafe situations immediately (frayed electrical cord, broken chair, torn rug, etc.)

11) Keeps cleaning chemicals within view while performing tasks; keeps chemicals locked up when not in use.

12) Keeps janitor closets locked at all times.

13) Uses safety equipment when indicated (i.e., gloves/goggles when cleaning up body fluids).

14) Performs any other duties as requested by Supervisory personnel to assist and assure the safe, effective functioning of the facility.
